From a folder of saved prompts to an AI prompt library with 3,700+ members.
Prompts that worked lived in Notes, Google Docs and old ChatGPT threads, so the good ones got rewritten from scratch every time. The tools out there either kept prompts in one browser or were built for teams of prompt engineers. We wanted one place to keep, find and share the prompts worth reusing, wherever the AI chat was open.
Stage 01 / Scope
Musebox had three jobs: store prompts, organize them so the right one turns up in a search, and share the good ones. Each prompt gets one of 12 categories and any number of tags, and collections group prompts by hand across categories. The web app, the mobile app and the extension all run on one Supabase project, so they share the same accounts and data.
Stage 02 / Design
We built the design system out of the code itself: color tokens with one place to change each, light and dark themes, and the components the web and mobile apps share. The community features came out of the same system: profiles, stars, comments, remixes, and badges that track a member's score and level.
Stage 03 / Build
Musebox started in React and moved to Next.js on Vercel. That move broke sign-in for the Chrome extension, because the web app keeps its session in HTTP-only cookies that an extension can't read. So we rebuilt the extension from scratch with its own token-based sign-in. The Expo app caught up with the web in five sprints, including version history, push notifications, bulk CSV import and dark mode. It's coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. App purchases go through RevenueCat, and a Supabase edge function syncs them with the Stripe web subscriptions, so one membership will work everywhere.
Stage 04 / Grow
Growth runs on search. We built 11 hand-picked collections for SEO, starting with Best AI Prompts for Marketers and Best AI Prompts for Teachers. Each one has its own description, FAQs and prompt list that visitors can read without signing in. Prompts in a published collection are open to search engines, and everything else stays behind sign-in. Sign-ups also come from a Google Ads campaign and from posts on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. The 11 collections hold 289 prompts.
